Experienced Criminal Defense Attorney
Ashley Traher has been committed to criminal defense for years. She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice Concentration from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. While in college she was an intern at the 8th Judicial District Probation Department, Adult Intensive Supervision Division.
After she received her Bachelor’s Degree, she attended law school at Arizona State University College of Law. While still in law school, Ms. Traher immersed herself in several different facets of the criminal justice system, including internships at: the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office, the Federal Public Defender for the District of Arizona, Capital Habeas Unit, and the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office. These experiences helped strengthen Ms. Traher’s commitment to criminal defense, and gave her significant experience early in her career that few other law students received. She graduated from ASU and received her Juris Doctor of Law in May of 2005.
After Ms. Traher passed the Arizona Bar Exam, she worked as an attorney at the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office in downtown Phoenix for over six years. While here she resolved hundreds of felony cases. She gained valuable experience as a trial attorney, and logged thousands of hours of court time representing clients in cases ranging from simple drug possession and DUI all the way up to armed robbery and murder. This gave her significant experience in criminal defense that few other attorneys can match.
After her time at the Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Traher started The Office of Ashley Traher, Attorney at Law. Here, she took the considerable experience she had and combined it with her drive to provide personal, quality representation for all clients. She became licensed to practice not only in Arizona, but also in US District Court of Arizona, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Although Ms. Traher has significant experience, she is always striving to learn more about the field of criminal law. She has attended many nationally-recognized legal seminars where she continues to learn about new developments in the field of criminal justice. She has mentored attorneys who are new to the practice of criminal law, and has taught classes on various aspects of criminal defense. Unique and challenging legal issues remain a continuing interest for Ms. Traher.
Now in private practice, Ms. Traher handles all types of misdemeanor and felony cases throughout Arizona. She understands that a DUI or criminal case is a major source of stress in a client’s life, and she makes sure to take the time needed to help each client get the best result possible. She limits her law practice exclusively to criminal defense, so that she can provide answers and help to clients when they need her most.
